South Buck Hospice is a day care hospice which offers palliative care was a project we really wanted to be a part of. The whole project was designed around Brenham which we had to keep in mind as the hospice had to score points to make sure the garden was a true Brenham garden.
The garden was built slightly differently to a conventional garden because we had to make sure the whole site was wheel chair friendly. So rather than installing steps we had to create slopes to suit the builder’s levels to ensure all thresholds were flush. The garden included two water features, garden lighting, an oak pergola, resin bound gravel, sleeper walls, millboard decking and a memorial walk with some inspiring thoughts for patients to contemplate whilst enjoying the garden. The garden was to be a tranquil place for patients to enjoy the outside in a relaxing a calming way.
