RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 Sanctuary Garden

The garden was designed by Giulio Giorgi in partnership with World Child Cancer UK for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024. The design demonstrates the incredible benefits garden design, planting, and nature can have on both health and wellbeing and was created specifically for children undergoing cancer treatment.

The design centres around various sensory elements and intends to provide a haven of hope and escapism for children undergoing treatment. It relies on the healing benefits of nature and intricate natural beauty available to evoke hope, happiness and peace. This was an incredible design, implemented by the Landesigns team, which achieved two major accolades at the Chelsea Flower Show 2024.

Award-Winning Garden Design

The garden design was inspired by the sustainable Keyhole gardens of Sub-Saharan Africa and features several raised beds in a circular motion. These planting nests represent the nurturing relationship and child-centric approach of World Child Cancer UK in their work, where every child and community is considered equal.

The aim of the garden is to present a sensory haven for children of all ages and abilities, encouraging them to spend more time outdoors. The moving and beautiful design was brought to life by Landesigns landscaping experts and received the RHS Gold Medal. It was also presented with the first-ever RHS Environmental Award 2024 for its sustainable efforts.

About The World Child Cancer Nurturing Garden

This garden was designed in partnership with World Child Cancer UK, whose mission is to improve child cancer survival rates worldwide. Their work centres on giving all children equal access to the best treatment and care, and this garden is inspired by the incredible work they do for both the health and well-being of children and their families.

The garden was sponsored by Project Giving Back, which is a grant-making charity that supports gardens for good causes at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
